Ladies and gentlemen, as we approach the holiday season, it’s crucial to remember that change is an inevitable part of life. We often find ourselves reminiscing about the past, longing for things to remain as they once were. However, we must acknowledge the reality of today and work towards a brighter future.

Take, for instance, the birthplace of Jesus Christ, a location that has experienced significant changes over time. The manger in Bethlehem, situated on Palestinian land, serves as a reminder that history is ever-evolving, and boundaries shift. The demographics of the region have transformed, yet we continue to cling to the past rather than embracing the present.

Throughout history, we have witnessed countries, empires, and boundaries change. The Irish lost their island to the British, who were expanding their empire. Despite the conflict, both parties eventually found a way to coexist. The same principle applies to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

While it’s essential to acknowledge the injustices of the past, such as the displacement of Arab families during the establishment of the Jewish state, we must also recognize that similar situations have occurred globally. People have been forced to relocate due to various reasons, and the majority adapt and move forward.

Ethnic cleansing has happened to both Jews and Arabs, making it crucial for both sides to find common ground and work towards a shared future. As demonstrated by the example of Fiddler on the Roof, sometimes, we must cope with the harsh realities of life and adapt to new circumstances.

History is filled with wrongs and regrettable events, but dwelling on the past will not change what has happened. Instead, we must focus on finding solutions to current problems. Numerous opportunities for peace have been presented, yet they have been rejected.

The Palestinian people deserve a better life, free from conflict and suffering. However, their leaders and allies must recognize the reality of the situation and work towards a future where both Israel
